My Dad’s Electric Bike

Posted on April 19, 2010 by

I need to start off by saying that my dad is one of most talented and creative people I know. From building boats (I’m currently in the middle of learning / building one myself) to houses, to furniture, he can pretty much engineer or reverse engineer anything. Most recently, he used a DIY kit to put together his first batter powered bike. I’ll let him explain.

    Very cool!

  2. Your dad is a genius. Thanks for sharing Miller!

Holy good god man, I need one of these. What’s the kit called? Is it easy? How quiet is it?

That specific kit that fits in that bag is awesome, and I wouldn’t get busted for driving with a motor without a licence.

    Sean,

Thanks for the comment (as always). The actual kit is from AmpedBikes. My dad is really handy but I think in general they are pretty easy to install. Almost completely silent too. You just hear a soft whir when you kick in the electric motor.

I have not seen Ron in over 15 years — don’t think he has changed at all! Please tell him I said hello and ask him to do a little more on Facebook so we can stay in touch! Thx!
